Emperor’s Choice is adding juicy, tender and crunchy Karaage chicken to its traditional Asian appetisers
Crispy chicken
Emperor’s Choice is adding Karaage chicken to its assortment of appetisers inspired by Asian cuisine. Karaage is a Japanese frying technique by means of which the battered chicken pieces become much crispier. The recipe to be presented by the Jan Zandbergen group brand uses high-quality chicken marinated in a mixture of soy, garlic and ginger and coated with a paste of wheat flower, potato starch and tapioca starch before it’s fried. The result is juicy and tender chicken strips with a crispy coating.
Karaage is often compared with chicken nuggets, which are also popular, but the Japanese frying method gives them a very different taste. Not only is the meat marinated to give it an Asian flavour and juicy texture even after the frying, but, unlike Western nuggets, the batter is applied dry, guaranteeing a crispy result.
Emperor’s Choice is renowned by restaurants and catering companies for the quality of its frozen appetisers inspired by the flavours of ancient Asia, a period when the first dynasties, with Chinese, Japanese and Korean influences, mixed the best ingredients of each of the cultures.
In addition to Karaage chicken, the brand’s assortment ranges from boneless roast duck to Japanese yakitori. At Alimentaria it will also showcase its 100% halal chicken products without any genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
